Transparency

Every market has clear resolution criteria published before trading opens. All trades are visible on the order book. Nothing is hidden.

Fairness

We do not trade on our own markets. Prices are determined solely by supply and demand among users. No market maker advantage.

Accountability

Every market resolution is published with the official source. You can verify every outcome yourself. We stand behind our decisions.

How Markets Are Created and Resolved

1Market Creation

Every market is created with a precise, unambiguous question and a clear resolution source. For example: “Will the SARB increase the repo rate at its November 2026 meeting?” The resolution source is the official SARB press release published at resbank.co.za. Resolution criteria are locked in before the first trade is placed and cannot be changed.

2Trading Period

Markets are open for trading from creation until the event's outcome is known. During this period, users buy and sell Shares at prices determined by the market. All trades, prices, and volumes are publicly visible on the Platform. Predict SA does not participate in trading on any market.

3Resolution

Once the event's outcome is publicly known, our admin team resolves the market based on the predetermined resolution source. The resolution is published alongside a link to the official source. Winning Shares are redeemed at R1.00 each; losing Shares at R0.00. Payouts, less the 3% resolution fee on net profits, are credited to winners' Wallets.

4Disputes

If you believe a market has been resolved incorrectly, you may file a dispute within 48 hours of resolution by contacting us at disputes@predictsa.co.za. Disputes are reviewed by a senior team member who was not involved in the original resolution decision. We will respond within 5 business days with a final determination.

Market Manipulation Is Prohibited

Predict SA maintains a strict policy against market manipulation. The following activities are explicitly prohibited and will result in immediate account termination, forfeiture of funds, and referral to authorities:

  • Wash trading: Buying and selling the same position to create artificial volume or price movement.
  • Coordinated trading: Two or more users acting together to manipulate a market price.
  • Insider trading:Trading on material non-public information about an event's outcome. If you have inside knowledge of an event (e.g., you work for the organisation involved), you must not trade on that market.
  • Disinformation: Spreading false information on or off the Platform with the intent to influence market prices.
  • Self-dealing: Creating multiple accounts to trade against yourself.

We monitor trading activity using automated systems to detect suspicious patterns. All users are subject to the same rules regardless of trading volume or account age.

⚠ Regulatory Status

Predict SA operates as a licensed betting operator under the oversight of the relevant provincial gambling board and the National Gambling Board of South Africa. The Platform is not regulated by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA). Shares traded on the Platform are not “securities” or “financial instruments” as defined in the Financial Markets Act, 2012. Wallet balances are not bank deposits and are not protected by any deposit insurance or investor compensation scheme.

⚠ Technology and Platform Risk

While we take reasonable care to maintain the Platform, we cannot guarantee that it will be available without interruption, error-free, or free from vulnerabilities. Technical issues may result in delayed execution of trades, inability to access your account, or loss of data. Predict SA is not liable for losses arising from technical failures, except to the extent caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

⚠ Liquidity Risk

Prediction markets depend on sufficient participation to function effectively. Markets with low trading volume may have wide bid-ask spreads, making it difficult or impossible to exit your position at a desired price. Predict SA does not guarantee liquidity in any market.

⚠ Tax Obligations

Gambling winnings in South Africa are generally not taxable in the hands of the player (unless you are a professional gambler, in which case winnings may constitute taxable income). However, tax laws are subject to change and vary based on individual circumstances. You are solely responsible for determining your tax obligations and complying with all applicable tax laws. Predict SA does not provide tax advice.

Responsible Gambling

Predict SA is committed to promoting responsible gambling. Gambling should be a form of entertainment, not a way to make money or escape problems.
