How It Works

Predict SA is South Africa's first prediction market β€” trade on the outcome of elections, sports, and more.

01

Browse Markets

Explore 170+ prediction markets across South African politics, sports, elections, the economy, crypto, and more. Each market has a YES and NO side β€” the price reflects what the crowd believes will happen.

02

Make Your Call

Buy YES shares if you think the event will happen, or NO shares if you don't. Every share is priced between R0.00 and R1.00 β€” if you're right, each winning share pays R1.00. Your order goes into a central limit order book, just like a stock exchange.

03

Watch the Market Move

Prices shift in real time as news breaks and new information emerges. The market price is a live probability forecast β€” when the price moves, the crowd's opinion is changing. Sell your position anytime to lock in gains or cut losses.

04

Collect Your Payout

When the event resolves, each winning share pays R1.00 minus a 3% fee on profit only. Winnings are credited to your wallet instantly. Each market names an official resolution source (IEC, PSL, SARB) so you know exactly who decides the outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a prediction market?

A prediction market is an exchange where people trade on the outcomes of real-world events. The price of each share is the crowd's collective probability estimate β€” a R0.62 YES share means the market thinks there's a 62% chance. Prediction markets have been shown to be more accurate than polls, pundits, and expert forecasts because they aggregate the knowledge of everyone participating.

Is this gambling?

No. Prediction markets are peer-to-peer exchanges, not a bookmaker. In gambling, the house takes the other side of every bet. On Predict SA, you trade directly against other users through a central limit order book β€” the platform never takes a position. Users set their own prices. The platform earns a 0.5% taker fee and a 3% resolution fee on winning positions for providing the technology. This is closer to a financial exchange (like the JSE) than a sportsbook.

How are markets resolved?

Every market names an official resolution source before trading begins β€” for elections it's the IEC (results.elections.org.za), for sports it's the PSL or API-Football, for the economy it's SARB or Stats SA. When the event concludes, our AI-assisted resolution system checks the named source and determines the outcome. For ambiguous cases, an admin reviews the evidence. If you believe a market was resolved incorrectly, you can file a dispute and an admin will review it.

What fees does Predict SA charge?

There's a 0.5% taker fee when your order matches against an existing order on the book, and a 3% resolution fee on profit only (if you lose, you pay nothing). Makers who place limit orders that rest on the book pay 0% β€” we pay you to provide liquidity. Market makers enrolled in our rewards program earn additional monthly payouts from the fee pool.

How do I provide liquidity?

You can mint YES+NO share pairs by depositing R1.00 per pair. This gives you one of each side β€” sell the one you disagree with on the open market. This creates instant liquidity without waiting for a counterparty. Market makers can also enroll in our rewards program (Silver, Gold, or Platinum tiers) to earn monthly payouts based on volume provided and quoting compliance.

What's the minimum deposit?

The minimum deposit is R50 via PayFast (card or Instant EFT), 1Voucher, or BluVoucher. New users receive R100 in free-to-play credits to explore the platform before depositing real money. Withdrawals require FICA identity verification.

Is my money safe?

Every trade on Predict SA is fully collateralised. When shares are minted or matched, R1.00 per share is locked in market escrow β€” winners are always paid from locked funds, never created from nothing. The platform carries zero solvency exposure. Your funds are held in a segregated wallet and can be withdrawn at any time, subject to FICA verification.
